Our Beginnings

Rooted in Titusville

Trinity Lutheran Church came into being because of the faith of the American Lutheran Church that the North Brevard County area could support an ALC church. In the early 1960s the area was experiencing a population explosion due to the construction of America's spaceport on Cape Canaveral and the upper stretches of Merritt Island.

What began as a mission is today a faithful congregation, still worshiping on the original property and in the original structure — gathered around Word and Sacrament.

Through the Years

A Faithful Journey

Key moments in the life of Trinity Lutheran Church.

1961

The Luther League of the American Lutheran Church chose to sponsor a mission in Florida. A plot of ground was purchased in Titusville where the church would be built.

March 4, 1962

Trinity Lutheran Church was dedicated as an American Lutheran Church. Rev. Claude Tejan was its first pastor.

January 11, 1963

The first annual congregational meeting was held.

The First Decade

The membership grew from an original 1962 count of fewer than 100 to over 400.

Over the Years

The church buildings and congregation grew, along with our list of pastors. Several building projects enhanced the original structure, including sanctuary and kitchen remodeling, and a new narthex and fellowship hall.

2015

A memorial garden and a roadside garden with three crosses were completed.

Today

The church continues on the same property and in the same original structure, faithfully worshiping our risen Lord.

"One generation commends your works to another; they tell of your mighty acts."
— Psalm 145:4
